About Kuwait

Kuwait City, the capital of Kuwait, is a key urban center known for its skyline, markets, and cultural sites. As of 2023, it is home to approximately 4.5 million residents and serves as an important hub for trade, finance, and oil production in the region.

The city experiences a desert climate with hot summers and mild winters. The best time to visit is between November and March, when temperatures are cooler and suitable for outdoor activities.

Kuwait International Airport is located about 15 kilometers south of the city center. For Saudi Arabian citizens, reaching Kuwait City is straightforward, with direct flights available from Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam. Airlines such as Saudia, Kuwait Airways, Flynas, Jazeera Airways, and Flydubai operate frequent connections.

Kuwait City’s food scene offers a mix of traditional Middle Eastern dishes and international options. Popular local meals include machboos (spiced rice with meat), murabyan (shrimp with rice), and harees (wheat and meat). Markets, restaurants, and cafes provide a variety of dining choices.

Visitors can explore landmarks like the Kuwait Towers, the Grand Mosque, and the Tareq Rajab Museum. The Souk Al-Mubarakiya is a well-known market offering local goods and food. Parks such as Al Shaheed Park provide green spaces for walking and leisure.

Saudi Arabian citizens can visit Kuwait without a visa. Entry requires only a valid passport, making travel simple and convenient.

Transportation to Kuwait City Center from Airport

Kuwait Intl. Airport

Kuwait, a half-century old Kuwait's namesake capital city, stands out as a commercial city. Kuwait city, which was ruined during the war, has been literally rebuilt with the help of foreign workers hosted by the city. More than half of the city's population consists of the foreign workers.

The city manages to be the center of attraction of the Middle East with its modern structures, two ports that have recently been put into service and an international airport. Kuwait International Airport is the most remarkable airport in the Middle East with its elegant architecture. The airport, located in the Farwaniyah area of the city, is 15 kilometers away from the city center.

Transportation is mainly provided by the buses in the city, which continues to develop. The buses, which provide transportation even to the farthest parts of the city with new vehicles, are praiseworthy in terms of punctuality in the city where the rail system is not available. Taking a taxi could be the ideal option for those who want to get rid of the tiresome and sweltering atmosphere of the bus journey in the city which is exposed to extreme heat almost all year round.

The buses, Kuwait's most popular means of transportation, also provide transportation service for the passengers on their way to the city center. New buses equipped with the latest technology are at your service. Taxi and car rental options are also available 24 hours 7 days for those who want a faster and more comfortable journey.

Taxi

Taxis offer a more refreshing journey thanks to air-conditioning advantage at the scorching heat of Kuwait. You can easily find the taxis, which serve all day long, in front of the terminal building of the airport. However, you should keep in mind that this option is more costly.

Bus

Four bus lines 13, 21, 99 and 501 are at your service on your way to the city center. Bus number 21 runs between 4:30 am and 11:45 pm. You can take the bus 13 to reach Chipset, bus 99 to go to Subhan and bus 501 to go Raqai part of the city. It takes about half an hour to reach the city center by all these bus lines.

Rent a car

You can also prefer to get to the city center by renting an affordable car of different brands and models at Kuwait Airport, where there are many international car rental companies such as Hertz, Avis, National, and Dollar.
