About Straubing
Straubing, located in the Lower Bavaria region in the south of Germany, is the central city of the Straubing-Bogen province. In the city with gothic buildings are found, there are buildings dating from the old Middle Age. These include; Romanesque Church, City Tower, City Entrance, St. Jacob Basilica, St. Vitus Church, Water Tower and Straubing Zoo. There are many festivals as well as cultural events organized in the city. Straubinger Frühlingsfest and Gaubodenvolksfest are held in spring every year.
Jazz Festival, one of the best jazz festivals in Europe, is also organized every year. At the same time, ice hockey, American football, jogging race events are also held in the city. Among the significant names from the city are Agnes Bernauer, Mathias Flurl, Joseph vorn Fraunhofer and Emanuel Schikaneder.
