About Hyderabad
Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, is renowned for its rich history, monuments, and a unique blend of modernity and tradition. As of 2023, it is home to about 10 million people. Known as the "City of Pearls," Hyderabad is a major center for the technology industry, as well as traditional arts and crafts.
The city experiences a tropical wet and dry climate. Summers (March to June) are hot, and temperatures moderate during the monsoon season (July to September), which brings most of the city’s rainfall. Winters, from November to February, are mild and pleasant, making this the best time to visit Hyderabad.
Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, located about 24 kilometers from the city center, offers excellent connectivity. Airlines such as Emirates and FlyDubai provide direct flights from Abu Dhabi and Dubai, facilitating easy access for travelers from the UAE.
Hyderabad's cuisine is a highlight, particularly its world-famous biryani and other Mughlai influences. Street food offerings include haleem during the Ramadan season, and Irani chai with osmania biscuits is a local staple beverage.
For tourists, Hyderabad offers a mix of historical and modern attractions. The Charminar stands as a symbol of the city’s heritage, while the majestic Golconda Fort offers panoramic views and a peek into the region’s history. The Salar Jung Museum, one of the largest museums in the world, houses a vast collection of art, antiques, and artifacts.
Nature lovers can explore the Hussain Sagar Lake, known for its large monolithic Buddha statue situated in the middle of the lake. The nearby gardens and parks provide serene spots for relaxation and leisure activities.
Visa requirements for UAE nationals visiting Hyderabad are consistent with general Indian visa policies. Those who have previously obtained an e-visa or regular visa can opt for a Visa-on-Arrival for subsequent trips. First-time visitors must apply for an e-visa or a regular visa in advance. The Visa-on-Arrival application form (Annexure I) can be completed before arrival or upon entering India.
