About Belgrade

Belgrade, the capital and largest city of Serbia, is situated at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. As of 2024, the city's metropolitan area boasts a population of approximately 1.41 million residents.

The city experiences a humid subtropical climate, characterized by four distinct seasons. Summers are warm, with average high temperatures around 28°C in July, while winters are cold, averaging highs of 5°C in January. Precipitation is relatively evenly distributed throughout the year. The most comfortable time to visit Belgrade is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months, when temperatures are mild and pleasant.

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, located approximately 18 kilometers west of the city center, serves as the main international gateway. While there are no direct flights from major UAE cities to Belgrade, travelers can connect via European hubs such as Istanbul with Turkish Airlines or Frankfurt with Lufthansa. Flight durations vary depending on layover times and chosen routes.

The city's culinary scene offers a rich array of traditional Serbian dishes, including ćevapi (grilled minced meat sausages), sarma (cabbage rolls stuffed with meat and rice), and ajvar (a pepper-based condiment). Local markets and eateries provide ample opportunities to experience these flavors.

Visitors to Belgrade can explore numerous attractions that highlight its historical and cultural heritage. The Belgrade Fortress, located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, offers panoramic views of the city and houses a museum. The Church of Saint Sava, one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world, is another notable landmark. Knez Mihailova Street, a pedestrian zone, is lined with shops, cafes, and historical buildings, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists.

Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy Ada Ciganlija, a river island turned peninsula on the Sava River, which features beaches, sports facilities, and recreational areas. The city's various parks and green spaces provide opportunities for relaxation and social gatherings, reflecting the daily life of Belgrade's residents.

UAE nationals can enter Serbia without a visa for stays of up to 90 days, thanks to a bilateral agreement between the two countries. It's advisable to ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your planned stay and to check the latest travel advisories before planning your visit.
