About Taif
Taif, often referred to as the "City of Roses," is a mountain city located in the western region of Saudi Arabia, on the slopes of the Sarawat Mountains. As of 2023, Taif is home to over 1.2 million residents and is a popular summer destination due to its cooler climate compared to other parts of the country. Known for its agricultural produce, particularly roses and grapes, Taif offers a unique mix of natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Taif enjoys a more moderate climate than most of Saudi Arabia, thanks to its higher elevation. Summers are cooler, making it a popular escape from the heat of the lowlands, while winters are mild and pleasant. The best time to visit is between April and October, particularly during the famous Taif Rose Festival in the spring when the city’s rose gardens are in full bloom.
Taif is served by Taif Regional Airport, located about 30 kilometers east of the city. While it is a smaller airport, several airlines, including Saudia, Flynas, and Flydubai, offer direct and connected flights from Abu Dhabi and Dubai, making it an easily reachable destination for UAE travelers.
The culinary scene in Taif reflects the city’s agricultural richness. Visitors can enjoy local dishes like kabsa, mandi, and shish kebabs, but Taif is particularly known for its desserts, especially made with local honey and fresh fruits. The region's grapes, pomegranates, and dates are among the freshest you’ll find in Saudi Arabia, making the local markets a must-visit for food lovers.
Taif is also famous for its roses, which are distilled into rose water and perfumes. Visitors can tour the rose farms and distilleries, particularly during the harvest season. In addition to its natural beauty, Taif offers a range of historical and cultural attractions. The Shubra Palace Museum, a former royal residence, showcases Taif’s rich history, while the Al Rudaf Park offers beautiful landscapes and sculptures for visitors to enjoy.
For those seeking adventure, the nearby Al Hada Mountain offers breathtaking views, cable car rides, and hiking trails, while the Saiysad National Park provides opportunities to explore the region’s unique flora and fauna. Taif is also home to several archaeological sites, including rock carvings that date back thousands of years, providing insight into the ancient civilizations that once inhabited the area.
UAE nationals can visit Taif visa-free, making it a convenient and appealing destination for Emirati travelers seeking a cooler retreat, natural beauty, and cultural experiences without the hassle of visa applications.

Taif Regional Airport
Taif is located on the slopes of the Sarawat Mountains in Mecca province of Saudi Arabia, which has rich ethnic roots and is home to the world's leading industrial and commercial centers. Taif is also referred to as Green Haven, thanks to its about 3,000 gardens. Taif is one of the most preferred cities in the Mecca region, one of the most visited places by tourists in terms of religious tourism, thanks to the developed transportation facilities and affordable accommodation options in the city. It is 150 kilometers away from the city of Mecca.
The most important feature distinguishing Taif from Mecca and Medina, which is the third largest city in Mecca province after Mecca and Jeddah, is that non-Muslim foreigners are allowed to enter the city. You will not have any difficulty in terms of transportation in Taif city, which is located in the western part of Saudi Arabia and in the south-east of Jeddah within the boundaries of the Mecca Administrative Region.
Taif's transportation networks have been extended to the Mecca province as a whole, and even to other parts of Saudi Arabia. There are intercity bus services between major cities in Saudi Arabia such as Riyadh, Jeddah, Mecca, Medina, Taif, Dammam, Abha, Naseem, Tebuk and Hael.

In Taif city transportation there are many options such as cable car, car, bus and taxi.
