About Megisti
Kastelorizo or Meyisti island is located in the Twelve Islands, which are connected to Greece and it is located 2 kilometers away from Turkey. On the island, where a population of about 500 people live, they deal with the production of grapes, olives and especially sponge fishing. Kastelorizo village is the only settlement on the island and is in the center location of the island. From the island you can travel to the island of Rhodes by ferry and air transportation. In addition you can travel to Kastelorizo Island by ferries departing from Kaş in the Antalya province. The island is approximately 270 meters above sea level and cultural activities are partially influenced by the Muslim traditions. In the town the economy is kept alive by dealing with ship trade, food products, charcoal for narghile and the fishing industry.
