Transportation to Airport from Kuala Lumpur City Center

Kuala Lumpur Intl. Airport

Located about 45 km from the city center, KLIA is accessible by bus, train, taxi, and rental car. Each one of these methods of transportation offer their own advantages and provide passengers with a convenient way to get to the airport.

Taxi

Taxis are available everywhere in the city and provide quick transportation from the city center to KLIA. Although taxis are a bit more expensive the fact that they are one of the fastest ways of getting to the airport makes it cost-effective. Taxis are among the most reliable transportation alternatives to get to the airport.

Bus

Buses are another method of transportation you can choose to get to KLIA from the city center. Buses are a more affordable option when compared to other transportation alternatives but they are also a slower option. 

Train

Another way to get to KLIA from the city center is by train. Trains are an economic and comfortable transportation alternative to get to the airport. There are normal or express trains that you can take at the Central Train Station, or various train stations in the city. These trains provide easy access to the airport.

Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport was the main international airport of Kuala Lumpur, until Kuala Lumpur International Airport was opened. Today Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport serves general aviation and turboprop flights. The airport is used for charter flights and domestic and international turboprop flights. Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport is located about 30 km from the Kuala Lumpur city center.

Taxi

The most common transportation alternative to get to the airport from the city center is by taxi. Taxis might not be the most affordable option but they are the fastest. The total trip from the city center takes about 40 minutes.

Bus

Buses are another way to get to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport. You can get on a bus in the city center and easily get to the airport. Buses are a more affordable method of transportation compared to other alternatives. However buses are not as fast as taking a taxi or driving yourselves.

Rental Car

Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport operates Firefly Airlines and Malindo Air flights to various regional destinations as it serves as the hub for Firefly, and Malindo Air commercial turboprop flights. The airport features basic services to meet passengers’ needs as well as cafes and eating and drinking venues. 

Transportation to Bandar Seri Begawan City Center from Airport

Brunei Intl. Airport

Passengers arriving at Brunei International Airport can use the buses that are located just outside the airport which only carry passengers to the city during daylight hours or you can take a taxi. In Brunei, taxis are much more expensive than buses, but you have the chance to reduce your fare slightly by sharing these vehicles from the airport with other passengers. Apart from taxis and airport buses, in advance you can book a rental car in Brunei and collect your car in front of the airport and take advantage of a journey of around 15-20 minutes to the city center.

Taxi

From Brunei International Airport, whatever time you land at the airport you have a chance to travel to the city center by taxi. The taxi journey from airport to center in Brunei will take about 20 minutes. Although it is only a short distance of 4 kilometers to get to the city center, you may need to pay around 25 Brunei Dollars in a taxi. Despite the short distance in between, the high taxi prices tend to lead visitors to use buses instead of taxis at the airport. However, when considering the options of taking the bus, you should remember that these affordable vehicles only operate between morning hours and 18:00.

Bus

To travel to the city center for cheaper from Brunei International Airport, you can use the buses that transit passengers for just a few Brunei Dollars. The purple coloured buses start their journey towards the city center in the morning. The last bus is at 18:00. After this time if you can not find a bus when you land at the airport, you can look for a taxi or rental car to take you to the city center. It is possible to travel from Brunei International Airport to the city center by using buses 23, 36, 24 and 38. You may be expected to pay for the bus ticket in Brunei Dollars. Therefore, before leaving the airport terminal and taking the bus or taxi, do not forget to convert some of your money into the local currency of the country.

Rent A Car

After landing at Brunei International Airport, those who want to continue to the center with a rental car can choose one of the companies such as Elsie, Hertz, AVIS and Roseraya, which serve those who want to rent a car in the region. Rental car companies are usually located in the city center and not at Brunei International Airport. Therefore, passengers who prefer a rental vehicle should make the necessary rental reservations in advance and inform the rental company about the time they are due to land at the airport.
